Bringing the future to the present

The Pirata Marinheiros Foundation believes that the future doesn't have to be just a distant dream, it can become a reality in the present by working with concrete actions, changing their regular everyday lives and giving them a more human and just world that they deserve.

For us, the order is past, future and present. No one can get to the present, without first going to the future. To be contemporary in the present, it is necessary to free ourselves from the past repetition. But in order to free ourselves from the past repetitions, it is necessary to project the future.

We believe to be possible to invert the chronological logic of past, present and future, that guided the modern age, and work on a new perspective of past, future and present, with basis on a belief that the future will only happen if it is thought out, and worked on, in the present, without ignoring the reference of the past. Bringing the future to the present is a way to make it viable. Understanding that the future in the modern logic never becomes reality, is always something that is to come, like a dream. It's only a future project that never gets done. It is anticipating the future that we will be able to change the present, surpassing the difficulties of the past.

Our perspective of projecting the future, takes us to a perception of a sustainable development, comprehending the inter-dependence of the economic, social, environmental and institutional dimensions.

Our work always was and always should be articulated with a partnership spirit with other entities, whether they are a group or individuals, with a main goal of consolidating a fair and equalitarian society, capable of understanding and respecting each other's differences.

With this vision, we believe to be possible to guarantee a better present to the new generations.
