In Fortaleza, the Pirata Marinheiros Foundation main target area is the neighborhood of Praia de Iracema, where we develop work with children and adolescents in risky situations, and women and elderly. The work is done together with local community organizations.
The city of Fortaleza is divided into six administrative regions. Praia de Iracema is part of the II Region, where there are 20 neighborhoods. The population of Praia de Iracema is 3 thousand 150 people. Most of the population are females. As for the age scale, the majority is between 20 and 59 years old, a reproductive age. Although research shows that the education level in this area is considerate reasonable, the families income are still in a medium level, according to the Human Development Rate (IDH).
